The Shadowy Vitality Digicam (DECam) on the Víctor M. Blanco 4-m telescope at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory has produced a spectacularly detailed image of the barred spiral galaxy Messier 83. This DECam image shows Messier 83, an supreme attempting face-on spiral galaxy positioned about 15 million light-years away within the southern constellation of Hydra.
